Hi

Happy New Year, and boy do I have a great New Year gift for you.

I am literally ten minutes from finishing a brand new eBook about making money from eBay Classified Ads.  And, best of all, I'm going to give it away free of charge to you.

That's because my book ties in so well with an article I did in a recent eletter, about doubling your money up to a million in eleven easy steps.

If you remember, the way to make your million was to buy something for a few pounds (or dollars), sell it on eBay for at least twice the amount you paid plus your operating costs.  Then you invest that money back into more of the same stock which again you reinvest and double your money.

You continue doubling up until your tiny investment turns into ONE MILLION! Ok, so that might seem unobtainable to you right now, but imagine if you made a tenth or even just 100th of that, you'd still be happy.

As to why eBay Classified Ads are the perfect way to grow a mailing list comprising many thousands of names, potentially millions, well imagine you promote ClickBank products at the same time as inviting people to join your mailing list.  The trick is to get people to sign up before they can actually purchase your product.

Let's say your first eBay Classified Ad offers a free report about a particular ClickBank product, it lasts 30 days and costs just under ten dollars (about six or seven pounds).

Your ad attracts just three sign ups each day, so 90 each month, and generates $100 profits.

That $100 pays for another ten eBay Classified Ads which in one month collectively add 900 names to your list alongside $1,000 profits.  That $1,000 profits pays for another 100
Classified Ads which add 9,000 names to your list. I am sure you get the picture here as to how a tiny investment can ultimately grow a massive income, growing monthly, and leading to a mailing list comprising potentially hundreds of thousands of people in record quick time!

A minority of sellers disagree with the idea of growing a mailing list of potential customers, they say it's more profitable to sell direct from a classified ad and thereby grow a buyers' only
database.  The argument goes something to the effect that free reports lead to mailing lists being top heavy in curiosity seekers and freebie enthusiasts who will generally waste more of sellers' time than will ever be compensated by sales to those people.

I have sympathy with the argument about avoiding time wasters, I agree a buyers' list will always outweigh a list of potential buyers, but somewhere in the marketing process we have to get people to trust us enough to send that first order and the name gathering process is the best way to accomplish the objective.  In other words you have to take the rough with the smooth!

The simple fact is very few people like to send money to people they don't know and don't yet trust and given the choice most people will bypass unknown sellers and buy from someone they've already bought from and trust.

That's where list building comes into the picture, it lets you offer incentives for people to sign up to your mailing list.  From there you grow a relationship with your list members and get them to trust you day by day.

Over the weeks and months ahead you email them, offering advice, answering questions, also marketing to them.

Seven Steps to Growing a Mailing List Using eBay Classifieds

*  Determine a market, or markets to sell to.  These markets can be hugely different, such as people who want to make money from ClickBank or who want to lose weight fast, they may want to find a long lost loved one or learn how to scale the heights of Everest in record breaking time.  You could in fact grow individual lists to generate income from millions of people with widely differing interests, and to sell to those very same people potentially for the lifetime of your mutual existence.

*  You arrange some method of getting people to sign up to your list, sometimes called 'LEAD GENERATION', and usually you offer an incentive for them to sign up, typically a free   report or access to a web site containing further information about the subject concerned.  In our case we'll be using eBay Classified Ads as our lead generating tool.  In my free book I'll show you how to obtain reports free of charge to use as your bargaining incentive.

*  Once people sign up, you or your auto responder send another email asking people to confirm their agreement to receive emails from you.  This is called 'Opting In' and it's an essential feature of all professional email storage and processing systems.  'Opting In' is a means of ensuring you are not later accused of contacting people without their permission, sometimes called 'SPAMMING'.   Confirmation normally takes place when recipients click on a specific link inside your email.

*  Seconds after clicking to confirm agreement another email is sent showing recipients how and where to access your free report.  Inside the free report they'll be invited to purchase the product featured in your eBay Classified Ad.

*  From there emails can be sent promoting the same or different products, your own or affiliate recommendations, leading to some people on your list becoming regular buyers.

*  People must be allowed some means of removing their contact details from your list.  Using professional email providers like Aweber and Constant Contact, they can do this by clicking the 'Unsubscribe' link at the end of every email you send.

*  BEST OF ALL, people on your list can be sent information and promotional emails at any time of day or night, all of which are stored in your mailing list programme and mailed at specified intervals.  Every email, taking thirty minutes or less to create and store online, can be scheduled in minutes and sent at specific intervals to everyone who joins your list today, tomorrow and potentially for many years to come.

I personally promote to my mailing list up to three times a week without my readers ever  thinking I'm greedy or over-marketing, in fact many of them write to thank me after every promotional email I send.  I do it by promoting a product one day, next time I tell them about an article they can read at my site where they'll find a product recommended alongside, another time I'll direct them to a site featuring my latest newsletter also with product or products featuring down the page.

That's it, that's all I'm telling you today, come our next monthly newsletter you'll be all fired up to join me making money from the easiest of all tasks - growing a mailing list on eBay, starting with less than £5.

Happy eBaying!

Avril

eBay Feedback Scam by Emily Banks
**********************************************************

eBay traders rely on their feedback reputation as much as they rely on their goods. Feedback amounts to the comments that both buyers and sellers leave on the transaction. The better your feedback reputation the more people will trust you as a buyer and seller.

Straightforward enough, you say. But some unscrupulous sellers manipulate their feedback to gain their buyers' trust. Once they have that trust, they start ripping off buyers.

How Do They Do It?

 Feedback Fraud

A seller sets up multiple eBay accounts.  He then buys and sells items between his identities, making sure to leave positive feedback to make himself look trustworthy.

 Purchasing Feedback

eBay has cracked down on this. However, a simple search shows that it still goes on.  It happens where a buyer purchases a low price item, say under £1, in return for positive feedback to build up their rating. These £1 friends help grow a false feedback status.

 Stealing Feedback

An unscrupulous dealer may hijack an account. After he does so, he can use its good reputation to scam unsuspecting buyers. This usually occurs after someone has been tricked into entering their password at a counterfeit eBay site.  The link to the phony eBay site usually arrives in a phishing e-mail.

 How To Avoid Being Scammed

An important thing to do in any eBay transaction is to check the other party’s feedback. Try and avoid a seller who has a large negative, or even neutral, feedback rating. Be especially careful if your purchase is an expensive item.

 Things to Look Out For:

* Check the IDs leaving feedback.  If there are many from the same ID, alarm bells should ring that the seller might be purchasing feedback.

 * What items are the feedback for? A hard sell of very low-priced items and a sudden change to the seller promoting expensive laptops, you should be suspicious. Check by clicking on the item link – it will show you the auction and winning bid prices within the last couple of months. Pay attention to both.

* Is the feedback for buying or selling? If it's all been for buying items and suddenly the person is selling, be careful.  Watch out for novice sellers and treat them as a seller with zero feedback.

What To Do If You're Scammed

You should report the incident to eBay, and also to PayPal, if need be. This offers you some recourse, and means you can file an insurance claim through them. Online auctions are like car boot sales.  It's a case of caveat emptor, buyer beware.

eBay suspends accounts where feedback manipulation is obvious. They have stated, however, that it's a grey area. SquareTrade is a mediation service that tries to resolve buyer/seller problems.  But if it's a scam that has caused the problem, they may not be able to assist.

eBay states that only 0.01% of the transactions on its site are scams.  They do their best to police them. And certainly, the vast majority of people experience no problems.
Remember to do your homework before bidding on an item, especially an expensive one.

Making Money With Haunted eBay Auctionsby Richard Wormwood
***********************************************************************

The market for 'Haunted eBay Auctions' has grown enormously over the past few years. As our world becomes more and more complicated and impersonal a lot of people would like to experience the supernatural in their lives in a unique way. Since it is not easy for everyone to travel to mystical places some people try to find the magical in their lives by acquiring special items. If the item is thought to be imbued with mystical qualities its value is increased immensely.

Everyone, it seems, has some desire to own ancient or magical items. These items are sometimes referred to as 'fetishes' by the scientific community, meaning something that is thought to have spiritual or magical qualities. Every religious group in the world has their own special types of fetishes, whether they want to admit it or not. From Christianity to Paganism each belief has its own artifacts. And if entanglement with religions bothers you there are plenty of non-religious avenues to follow. You can take your inspiration from nature or mythology, which are both very popular at the moment.

As a society, especially in this country, we humans like to collect and to hoard. Whether it is Aunt Betty's salt and pepper shaker collection or Donald Trumps vast hoard of wealth, it seems everyone likes to gather things. This is one of the most important desires that eBay fulfils. Anything and everything can be collected with the help of an eBay account, including haunted or possessed items. This inspires droves of people to log on for their daily 'hunt'.

Despite the vast array of magical aspirations, haunted eBay auctions tend to grant certain reoccurring desires... specifically those of love and money. And certain items with certain 'spiritual entities' attached also occur with regularity. Fairies, Djinn/Genies are very popular at the moment as well as anything owned by gypsies or covens, with groups of anywhere from dozens to thousands of these magical beings contained inside one special item.

So whether you are a true believer or a simple marketer haunted eBay auctions are a very lucrative endeavour. All it takes is a visit to the eBay Pulse pages to see the multitude of these items that are selling for many times their true value. The auctions are easy and fun to put together, especially if you have any background in or knowledge of the paranormal. Very little effort is required to find unique items to sell and shipping is minimal. With just a little know-how you can be placing your first auctions in a matter of hours and collecting your first winning bids in as little as three days. Of course most people will want to take a little bit longer to make sure they 'get it right' from the start.

I've been selling things on eBay for almost 10 years now. Everything from toys to aquariums and there are some things I've learned. The most important is that you can choose to do things the easy way. And the easy way can be the most profitable way. Simple Steps to a Killer Sales Letter by Art Stanley
***********************************************

There are several simple steps to creating a killer sales letter for your eBay selling business; here are a few you can use immediately.

1. Explain How The Buyer Comes Out On
Top. Pile on the benefits. Let them know that they get as a result of owning the item. Create a list of one valuable advantage after another. Set them up as powerful bullet points so prospects can quickly grasp the main benefits and move on quickly.

Write your bullet points like headlines. Simply preface each big benefit with a phrase like these, or something similar...

 2. Introduce Your Irresistible Offer. Create as stark a contrast as possible between what the item/package is worth versus how little you're asking in return. This is where a low starting bid can instantly create a flurry of activity.

Offer dollars worth of value for mere pennies. Thanks to the auction-style, bid-what-you-want format of eBay, it's easy to offer genuine value at bargain-basement prices, without raising suspicions. After all, you expect the price to go much higher. But it's awfully tempting for prospects to simply go for it.

 3. Prove What You Said Is True. Provide customer testimonials and case histories whenever possible. Legitimate third party endorsements can go a long way in convincing prospects of your selling points. Look at the way products are sold in infomercials today. A large chunk of the total airtime is devoted to customers telling their stories.

If you say it, it may be looked upon as mere advertising. But when a previous customer tells a compelling story of satisfaction with your product, it's perceived as much closer to the truth.

Whenever possible, give buyers a satisfaction guarantee. And the longer, the better.

4. Seal The Deal and Close The Sale. Your sales letter only works if it leads to action. Don’t leave prospects half-sold on your item. Give them that extra nudge. Direct them to take action and provide a clear reason why it's in their best interest to do so NOW.

Remind them of the great deal you have to offer. Summarise all they get from you. Make it worth far more than even the regular price of your package. And since you're only asking for a much lower Buy-It-Now price, or a tiny starting bid, taking action should be a no-brainer.

Tell your prospects exactly what they need to do to get all the benefits for themselves... make taking the necessary action easy to do.
