Hi,

You've often heard me say things like: 'We UK
eBay sellers are so hard done by' and 'It always
happens on eBay.com first and take ages before
sellers in the UK get involved in some great new
idea from eBay to help us grow our ventures'.

But today I am going to admit I have been wrong,
well partly, in those two assumptions.

You see until recently you had to sell hundreds of
items on eBay each month to qualify for your own
personal telephone line to eBay staff for advice
and help with your problems. It really infuriated
me to think I was spending all day, every day,
making money for my family, and for eBay, and it
often took hours to contact anyone from eBay UK.
That had to be wrong.

Thankfully, that is what eBay also thought and
only yesterday they announced that a personal
telephone helpline is available to all UK
PowerSellers ranked Silver and above.

It isn't actually all that hard to make Silver rank
and it's well worth trying hard to reach that level
even if just for the fact that eBay now show they
consider Silver PowerSellers a vital part of their
business.

To gain basic level, Bronze, you only need to sell
£3750 worth of product or 100 items each month for
three consecutive months. How easy is that,
representing just over three sales a day?
Forgetting monetary levels, Silver membership
involves selling 300 items a month for three
months or around 10 items a day. Still well within
most people's reach. And Silver is the level at
which you begin receiving special benefits not
available to Bronze PowerSellers and non-
PowerSellers. Those benefits include that
telephone hotline as well as:

* Priority eMail Support.

* Access to a Dedicated PowerSeller Board (I
have picked up some great buying and selling tips
here, making it well worthwhile to become and
remain a PowerSeller).

* Invitation to eBay Events (No this is not a joke,
there are actually free events reserved especially
for PowerSellers. I have not attended any, but I
gather they are a very useful networking tool).

There are other benefits and other rules to comply
with, all of which you can read by clicking on the
PowerSeller link from eBay's PowerSeller
information page

Those rules include maintaining 98% minimum
positive feedback, not involving yourself in
shillbidding (bidding yourself or getting someone
else to bid on your listings), and not violating too
many eBay rules.

But here's the big problem. You see, many rules
are easy to break, it happens unwittingly, such as
where I listed my Swastika postcard and another
featuring a Boxer Female of the Canine Species.
The words 'Swastika' and 'Bitch' are cause for
having your eBay listings withdrawn, even though
the swastika is an ancient symbol having nothing
to do with Nazi Germany and the word 'Bitch' as
in female of the Canine species has nothing to do
with adult material. I pleaded with eBay to see
sense, but no, 'Swastika' and 'bitch' are dirty
words, even on items created hundreds of years
before either World War and long before the word
'bitch' applied to anything other than girl doggies.

Because it's easy to break the rules this way you
should know how many violations will get your
PowerSeller status withdrawn and, unsurprisingly,
more blind eyes are turned to violations the higher
you go up the PowerSeller tree.

In eBay's words 'Violations of any eBay policies
may result in the loss of PowerSeller status. The
following limits apply:

Bronze          4 violations in a 60-day period
Silver/Gold   5 violations in a 60-day period
Platinum       6 violations in a 60-day period
Titanium       7 violations in a 60-day period'

The really good news about this new telephone
support system is that, unlike my earlier
experience further up the PowerSeller tree, my
contact number is in the UK, not the USA, so I
won't be spending a fortune to find whatever help
I need ('further up the PowerSeller tree' doesn't
mean I list less now than in earlier times, it's all
down to the fact that even the very highest
PowerSellers dropped a few grades a few months
back when eBay greatly increased PowerSeller
qualification levels! And no, they won't be doing
it again in the conceivable future!)

Happy eBaying!

Until next time,

Avril

Buy to Sell on eBay: the Best Sources are Just
Around the Corner by: Karen O'Donnell

Once you start out as an eBay seller the challenge
is to have profitable products that are guaranteed to
draw buyers on eBay. To achieve this, start
considering the strategy of buy to sell on eBay.

Unless you just want to sell from time-to-time to
earn extra bucks, you can not forever come up with
used items from your own attic, garage and closets.
This strategy of risk-free and cost-free eBay
selling is just your stepping stone to earn the
needed funds and expand your online business.
Buying products to sell on eBay is a good way to
start getting more serious and responsible as an
eBay seller.

If you choose to buy to sell on eBay there is capital
involved. Also, be aware that in doing buy to sell
on eBay business, you accept that there are risks
involved. First of all, consider the cost of acquiring
the products you will be putting up for sale.
Regarding this, you need to know the best places
where the merchandise is cheap enough to buy so
that you'll still get profit once you sell it on eBay.
Second, you have to prepare maintenance costs for
transporting the products you bought providing
enough storage space for the items and repairing
damaged items.

Buy to sell on eBay has very tedious and time-
consuming aspects. As such here are a couple of
the important things to be considered as you
venture in the buy to sell on eBay business:

* Identify what products you should buy
according to the type of costumer you wish to
target.

* Places where you can buy the products you want
to sell on eBay and at the same time get good
bargains for it

Perhaps you already know of some places where
you can start your buy to sell eBay enterprise. Still
we give you some pointers on the top places where
you can find good sources of products to buy to
sell on eBay. Start your research here!

1. Garage sales and flea markets - buying products
to sell on eBay from these sources are perfect for
those who are starting small in their venture. Most
probably you will be able to buy cheaply a wide
range of used items you are targeting to sell. Still,
before beginning your shopping, do some research
first on the product categories that interest you.
Scour several sales in order to get the best bargain.

2. eBay - call it recycling, but eBay is a good
source for products you can buy to sell on eBay.
As long as you are careful in purchasing, buying
wholesale items to sell on eBay through retail can
be a very good bargain on your part.

3. Drop Shipper Directories - these are
wholesalers that already ship directly to your
customers the items they bought from you. With
this kind of set-up you no longer have to invest in
stocking inventory. You also become free of the
tedious responsibility to maintain a stockroom or
warehouse for your products. Look up online for
directories of drop shippers which are for sale.
You may run the risk of buying from a
disreputable one and as such you need to confirm
its record and reputation.

4. Local businesses - there are local businesses in
your area that have the exact products you are
targeting to resell on eBay. Haggle for a low
volume price for the products you wish to buy to
sell on eBay for a considerable profit.

5. Craftworkers - these are good sources of
specialised products. Have an arrangement
whether to buy a certain quantity or through
consignment. Just be sure to get a discount that
makes a profit for you.

If you aspire for more types of product and better
deals on products to buy to sell on eBay, try out
these other sources:

* Trade shows where there is a wide array of
merchandise - a perfect opportunity for those that
buy to sell on eBay.

* Permanent marts where you can meet up with
product suppliers and get great bargains for retail
or wholesale purchase.

* Wholesaler directories online to point you to
more places where you can buy to sell on eBay.

* Importers/Exporters are the perfect sources if
you want to buy to sell on eBay foreign and
imported products, and;

* Foreign trade offices in major US (and UK)
cities.

In order to become successful in buying to sell on
eBay, be more resourceful, open to challenges and
ready to take risks. If you would like more

2 Gems For Finding Amazing Products to Sell
On eBay by: Pauline Kiselbach
***

Are you at the point of your eBay venture that you
may be feeling tapped out? Did you sell everything
in everyone's attic that you could think of and now
you're wondering, what next?

Don't wonder any more. Believe me, there is so
much product out there it is mind- boggling. The
supply is unlimited.

Think of this: how about going to local garage
sales and getting some deals, or going into your
neighbourhood? Good ideas, yes? But there is
more. What about your local retail stores? You
could perhaps find deals or maybe even inquire
about overstock. Maybe your family or friends
work for companies who have product.

All of these can be great places to find product.
There are also many, many wholesalers who are
dying for you to buy from them. Sometimes you
could get in too deep, so go slow and do your
homework first.

Homework you say? Well, yes it sounds awful, at
least to our children, but this kind of homework is
fun and easy. You will not be up all night tearing
out your hair, at least I hope not!

The key to finding great products is to build great
relationships with people. If companies have a lot
of product, and they like the way you do business,
well that makes it easy for you to continue
purchasing product from them.

Again, a great place to start is to check into the
employers of family and friends. Because you
already know their employees, it makes it a bit
easier to get your foot in the door. Get to know
them; you will be surprised how easy it is to build
a great business around this one idea.

Whether you choose this route or buying from
wholesalers, or whichever avenue you decide to
go, there is a magic recipe you need to be
successful. Do you want me to tell you what it is?

RESEARCH

I have mentioned this before, but I will go into it a
little deeper this time. Research, research, research.

Research before you buy.

Here are 2 important ways to go about this
research.

1. Think of these points. How much can you get
this product for? How much can you sell it for?
How long will it take for you to go through the
whole process and get the product listed on eBay,
and how much money will you have in your
pocket when it is all over?

Are you a good shopper? Can you spot deals?

It would be a good idea for you to begin your
search for products in an arena you are familiar
with. Try to start with something you already
know a lot about. You understand this product.
You know the little quirky things about this that
make it so great.

You love to research this arena; you might even
have a passion for this kind of stuff. You know
where to find it and you know how to spot the
deals.

Now you have a huge advantage over the next guy.
You know what you're looking at and right away
you could make a yes or no decision as to whether
or not you should buy it or not.

2 . Now let us look at overstock items. Or maybe a
retailer just simply lost their mind for a moment
and bought way too much of the same thing. If a
retailer has a load of stuff in their back room just
sitting, and you come along and express lots of
interest in buying it, do you not think maybe they
would be interested? Who wouldn't? You are
offering to pay them a good amount, and they in
turn not only make money, but clear out their
space for newer merchandise.

And guess what? eBay is not new any more, and
most people have heard of eBay and know the
value of getting involved with it. It is not hard to
convince people to start something here.

So now you approach these retailers. They see you
face to face, they like what they see, let's hope, and
they are interested in this venture. Your
relationship has begun.

Because they are local, you do not have any
inbound shipping costs to think about. You can see
the merchandise yourself and you know if it is of
good quality or crap.

You know what you are buying and you have more
confidence and trust in this whole endeavor. You
like them, they like you, you like the product, they
like the price, you can sell it easily on eBay with a
profit, and it is all good.

Dropship On eBay? Who Me? By: Teri
Trantanella
***

Guess What? I'm actually dropshipping on eBay
and making money doing it! I never ever thought I
would be this far ahead in my Internet career in
this short of a time span. As Controller for a
manufacturing company I make a decent living,
but selling on eBay pays me almost as much...not
quite, but I'm getting there!

I'm not an 'Internet gur' or expert, but I can still
tell you how to make money on eBay. It's called
'dropshipping' and there is money to be made if
you just try it. There are many dropship sites on
the internet. Finding them can take time, but it is
worth the time it takes to find the right ones.

For newbies that don't know what a dropshipper
is, here is a perfect explanation:

Let's say you ran across a product on a
dropshipping site for $20.00. You would sell that
product for a price you would determine, let's use
$50.00 plus $4.95 postage and handling for an
example. After you collect the payment of $54.95
from the customer and their mailing address, you
would forward the $20.00 plus $4.95 postage costs
to the supplier, and keep the $30.00 as profit, never
having to touch or store the product, as the supplier
sends it out to the customer. This type of
arrangement is extremely beneficial to both
yourself, and the supplier. The supplier does not
have to open a storefront, or hire sales people to
sell their products, as that is the role of the
dropshipper. You, as the dropshipper, have a way
to earn some spare money, having no start-up
costs, no overhead, no packaging costs or
headaches, and can create an extremely useful
relationship with the supplier. Dropshipping is a
great way to run a business without carrying stock.

Using the above method, you can start your own
online store and never have to carry any
merchandise. This is how the Internet works and
it's great for those who know how to create their
own websites and can keep up with their
dropshippers product and price changes. That
alone can be a challenge, but if you can contribute
a few hours a day to your website, dropshipping is
an excellent way to make extra money.

Teri Trantanella works full-time as Controller for a
manufacturing company, as well as part-time as
Accounting Manager at a SmokyMountain resort
on the weekends. This 7 day a week workaholic
spends her spare time in the evenings online,
building and marketing her online businesses
